“Can I use Snappy Ubuntu Core on the Raspberry Pi?” is one of the most frequently asked questions we heard since launching Ubuntu Core for smart devices. Thanks to a very successful collaboration between the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, we are pleased to announce that Snappy Ubuntu Core is available for the Raspberry Pi 2, the latest Raspberry Pi family member.
“Snappy Ubuntu Core on Raspberry Pi 2 is the ideal foundation for developers to build Snappy Apps and share them with others via the Snapp Store. Raspberry Pi 2 will be one of the recommended platforms for Snappy Ubuntu Core,” says Maarten Ectors, VP IoT of Canonical.
“I am incredibly excited to have Snappy Ubuntu Core running on the Raspberry Pi 2. Ubuntu has been a key missing piece on our operating system support for the Raspberry Pi. We are looking forward to seeing what new things people are able to do with Snappy Ubuntu Core on the Raspberry Pi 2,” says Eben Upton, Founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
For those developers that want to get started, you can find Snappy Ubuntu Core for the Raspberry Pi 2 here.
